In Islam, the way we honor our deceased is a reflection of our faith and our respect for the individual’s life. Ensuring that every Muslim has a dignified burial is not just a cultural practice, but a religious obligation.

As many of you are aware, our current Muslim burial space in Exeter’s Exwick Cemetery is limited. This situation is becoming increasingly pressing as our community continues to grow rapidly. We must therefore act with urgency and foresight to address the imminent shortage of burial spaces.

Recognizing this critical need, a group of dedicated individuals has come together to form the charity “Garden of Eden.” The flagship project of this charity is to create a dedicated, state-of-the-art burial site for our local Muslim community in the Southwest of England. This new site will be equipped with all the necessary amenities to meet our community’s burial needs in accordance with our Islamic traditions.

However, this ambitious and noble project cannot succeed without the support of each one of us. I urge all of you to contribute in any way you can. Setting up direct debits or making one-off donations will provide the financial foundation needed to bring this project to life. Additionally, spreading the word within and beyond our community will help garner wider support. And most importantly, remember this cause in your duas, asking Allah (SWT) to bless and facilitate the efforts.

Supporting the “Garden of Eden” project is more than just a charitable act; it is an investment in the future of our community, ensuring that we have the facilities to fulfill our religious duties for generations to come. Let us come together, as we always have, to make this vision a reality.
